Adjetivos en Inglés

THE ADJECTIVES

Adjetivos: son palabras que califican o dicen algo del sustantivo, como nuevo, viejo, bueno o malo, triste o feliz, etcétera. Existe una fuerte diferencia entre los adjetivos en español y los adjetivos en inglés es que éstos   últimos NO tienen GENERO ni NÚMERO, estos adjetivos en inglés no cambian ya sea en masculino o femenino, singular o plural. Esto los hace más sencillos de estudiar.

Ejemplo: 

the nice house (singular)                             the lovely boy (masculino)

the nice houses (plural)                              the lovely girl (femenino)

Otra diferencia y que es muy importante es que el Adjetivo va antes del sustantivo, 

ejemplos 

a WONDERFUL car -----  un auto MARAVILLOSO

a SMALL princess --------- una princesa PEQUEÑA.

COMPARATIVOS: 

para formar un comparativo sólo debes agregar  la terminación -er y la palabra than 

ejemplos: 

I am oldER THAN my cousin Lilia.

She's prettier than her friend.

Atención. Para los adjetivos de mas de dos sílabas (como Wonderful) NO SE AGREGA -ER si no que se antepone la palabra MORE al adjetivo y se agrega THAN

she is MORE intelligent THAN her sisiters

the red car is MORE wonderful than the yellow one.

SUPERLATIVOS:

para indicar que algo es lo MAS bonito, lo mas caro, lo más increíble, etcétera. Se antepone el artículo THE al adjetivo y a éste se le agrega la terminación -EST.

This is THE prettiESTt girl.

that is the newest fashion.

Atención. Sólo los adjetivos de más de dos sílabas forman su superlativo agregando THE MOST al adjetivo.

ejemplos: 

this is THE MOST expensive computer.

She is the most beautiful actress.

Algunos adjetivos cambian completamente. Los más comunes son: 

                comparativo         superlativo

good ---- better than ------- the best 

far ------- farther than ------- the farthest

Los adjetivos que terminan en Y cambiarán esa letra por I, agregando las terminaciones -ER o -EST.

ejemplos:

angry             angrier than      the angriest

pretty            prettier than      the prettiest

dirty              dirtier than       the dirtiest

funny             funnier than      the funniest.
